Foster Care Abuse

When a child is placed in foster care, it's usually because the biological parent has a drug and/or alcohol problem, or because of neglect or abuse. The Department of Social and Health Services is then responsible for ensuring the safety of the child.

Unfortunately, children in foster care continue to experience a high rate of physical and sexual abuse, emotional deprivation, and neglect. Some children are trapped for years in abusive homes, their cries for help and reports from neighbors and teachers falling on deaf ears.

The government social workers either do not know what is happening, or fall short in their background checks or home visits. The government's failings in protecting foster children is an inexcusable offense and they need to be accountable for the cruelty that some of these children face as a result of their decisions or inaction.
